So bizarre
A random vanity Google image search yeilded a hotlink (tsk tsk) to this picture:

It's a post to some sort of Russian game that seems to start with this image.
Here's a translated version.
So random. I originally blogged about the eggs here. I had a pretty cool husband. :>
New server!
I have a new server! YAY! Hopefully this means that my site will be considerably faster than it used to be. We shall see.
Things might go up and down and be all wonky for a while as I tweak my new MT installation and implement the templates that I started working on last March. :P
Happy New Year everyone! :)
(As a completely unrelated aside, because I'm curious: Why have people started announcing new blog posts on Twitter?)
Upgrade!
I've upgraded to MT4. This is a test post. Yes the stylesheet is default for now; I have a new design in mind but haven't had the energy to implement it. So that's coming soon-ish.Identity theft!
There is another Bethlet running around! FOR SHAME!
Though maybe that's what I get for shunning MySpace and never having made an account. Still. Someone should prohibit these things frrom happening!
Chinese Cheesecake
Matt is up in arms about Technorati not loving on him like it should. Fair enough. Someone suggested he try searching for references to his blog using the Google Blog Search engine.
Out of curiosity, I decided to do this, too. What do you know? My cheesecake has been linked to on a Chinese blog.
And you know what? It looks hella good.
I own the BBC
So you may remember that there was some discussion a few months back about local city blogs and the nationality of certain contributors. Is it cool for a London blog to employ non-British bloggers?
In my (and many others') defence, I offered up some statistics and came to the conclusion that with 5% of the population of London born in non-British EU countries and 22% born outside of the EU, well, it's not unrepresentative having a few foreigners do some blogging for London. I mean, we're talking over a quarter of London being non-British, here.
That whole debate has been dead and buried for months now, but looking through my news reader this morning, I was tickled to read the headline "25% of Londoners are born abroad".
Yes. That's what I said. Last November.
1 f***ing pixel
There is a rogue pixel of space below the images in my flickr badges. If you highlight the images in the table, you can see this (in Safari, at least).
I've tried everything I could think of to get rid of these.
I'm stumped (and frustrated).
Eternal love, a care package, my first-born to the person who figures out why the fuck this is happening.
Edit 28Aug05: Danyea wins! It was the doctype - the pixel goes away if you change it to transitional. YAY!
Threaded comments
I'd really like to implement threaded comments on my MT installation. I've found a plugin (MT Threaded Comments) on the MT Plugins site, but of course it's for a previous version of MT. It seems someone has tracked back to it, saying they've implemented these threaded comments on MT 3.0 but of course that person's site seems to have gone poof.
I am left with three options:
- Pick through the patch, trying to figure out where to make the changes in the new version of code that I have not written and with which I am not familiar
- Sigh and admit that I'm not going to get threaded comments on my site
- Try and write my own plugin - something I've yet to do
Anyone have any advice? Also, if this site starts acting flaky, well, you can probably take a guess as to why that's happening.
Venice pictures
In record time, really, I posted my Venice pictures. Woohoo. You may or may not have noticed, but I've moved the photo album functionality away from my site and over to SmugMug. It's a lot easier to use and you can even order prints. Woo. Also, I've uploaded a bunch more pictures, so take a look.
Anyway, Venice. It was lovely, just lovely. A few people have expressed confusion and incredulity that I would go to such a romantic city on my own, but, well, it's the best place I can think of for people watching and the shopping's pretty good, too.
The food, as well, was fantastic. I had lots of recommendations from Lollardfish, who lived in Venice for a while and pointed me in all the right directions.
Highlights of the trip include sitting out in the sunshine doing various things and the Guggenheim. I do love good 20th century art.
MT Upgrade!
I just (belatedly) upgraded MT! Woot. The main reason for this: Scode wasn't working so I decided to go with MT-Blacklist. Which suggests upgrading to v3.1 instead of supporting 3.0. So I did.
Hopefully everything will continue to work as normal. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll get on it.
Nothing really interesting is going on otherwise. The day was pretty much a wash.
22:35: Okay that was weird. I just posted that entry and the old pink templates were used instead of the cool new ones. What gives? Think I've got the problem sorted but we'll see!
