Embarassing, post-Christmas brain dump

Because it's been TOO LONG since I posted anything and I feel like teh suXX0rZ when it comes to el blog-o. Word.

The rest of my trip to the UK...

... was actually way better than the beginning, in which I was sekritly melancholy and emo. Super Emo Girl! As James reminded me when I called him in tears one day (because no one else would understand, of course): put on some black eyeliner so you can get some good tear streaks. After all, emo isn't just a state of mind, it's a fashion statement, yo. Okay so maybe I paraphrase, but you catch my drift.

Then I went to Paris. Which kicked the ass of an army of emo. I took the morning Eurostar to Paris on Sunday, spent the day in cafés, shopping, and partaking of kir royale before heading out to an amazing Moroccan meal. Mmm lamb and couscous. All of this with the fabulous Lisa, whom I secretly hate because she gets live there.

When I got back to London, it was go go go.
Monday: the Griz and I took it easy
Tuesday: pub quiz REUNION, which attracted a group of 14. My team was in first place until the intro round, which we tanked. Damn you kids and your pop music!
Wednesday: up to Sandi & David's in Wing for some catching up (without limoncello this time)
Thursday: out to the Cotswolds to visit Jamie's family (including niece Amy, who amazingly adorable)
Friday: out with Grizzle, Kevo & Jeremy to the Purple Turtle for some entertainment of the live band/burlesque variety

Then on Saturday, I went home. :( It was sad. I wanted to stay longer. But... my ticket home (again, compliments of Jamie's million trips to India), was for first class so actually that was a total blast. If you get the opportunity (and someone else is footing the bill), travel BA First Class. It's amazingly fun. I could go on and on. But I won't. Because it's probably a 'you had to have been there' experience.

So i came home, was home for four nights (during which I went to a completely hot poolside party at Hotel QT with Tony), then off to Colorado for Thanksgiving with the fam at my brother's new house. Which is gorgeous. And the turkey was delicious. And it was fabulous.

Instead of going home, I then drove with my parents to Chicago, where I stayed with them for a week eagerly awaiting my friend Wil's 40th birthday celebration. It was a lavish affair with 80 of his closest friends (!) and amazingly catered food by a chef whose name I can't remember circulated in small portions by like six or seven servers. Lots of truffle, lots of foie gras, lots of desserts (my GOD they kept coming) topped off by a bottle of Chateau d'Yquem. Divine.

I spent a total of ten days sleeping in my brand new apartment in November. Gary (hey look - he's even worse at updating his blog than I am!), who was my "plant-sitter" (even though I didn't have a plant when this arrangement began), was quite pleased about that.

Blah blah blah work blah blah blah launched a new version of the site I'm working on blah blah blah more work. Scott and Jody came to visit one of those weekends and we had a great time. And oh look, it's Christmas!

Which was fun! I spent it with the folks and the fam and avoided outside social interaction for the most part as I was really just enjoying being with my parents too much. Even though they bicker and it drives me nuts. Whatever! I got some superawesome loot - including an amazing new set of martini glasses. Which I think I really should break in. If you're in the area and interested in a martini, let me know. I'm sure something can be arranged!

I also got an iPhone, from Jamie, who is the BEST EX EVAR. It's really neat and shiny and I love it. Loooooove it.

I have a million pictures to process and will try and do so this weekend. I'm also moving my site to a new host. My old one was sucking royally (even though it seems to be okay at this second) and it's time to make the move. I'm going to try to do that this weekend, too. STAY TUNED!

Here is a picture from Christmas to keep you all amused until I next post. I like to call this one:

DICK CHENEY GONE BAD

Nice one, Dad.
