9/11 excavation... Still?
In an email sent to Jamie:
We have just been advised by the New York City Department of Transportation that beginning Monday, April 9, due to further excavation of possible remains of victims from 9/11, West Street between Liberty and Vesey Streets will be closed. The lanes are northbound, and will be closed 24 hours a day for a five-week period ending May 13.
This is just south of us. Honestly, the thing I'm most surprised about is that it's taken five and a half years to get to this point. Especially as it seems they've already begun to pour the foundation for the new building and all. Perhaps they're digging up the highway? Looking below it?
Sobering.
