When we were ordering our sofa last night, our salesperson told us to check with our building that it would fit in the elevator.
It's in two bits:
Return sofa with bumper: 100"x34"x31"
One-arm loveseat: 67"x34"x31"
So this morning, on my way out, I talk to the doorman... who smiles and shakes his head immediately. 88" is the max the elevator will take. WHOA! Seeing as this is a final sale (because they custom make it in your upholstery), it's a freaking good thing I asked.
Our order, of course, will have to be changed:
Corner: 34"x34"x31"
Armless loveseat with bumper: 66"x34"x31"
One-arm loveseat: 67"x34"x31"
Annnnnd Beth & James don't waste a huge amount of money. Whew!
Also... smaller pieces = better long-term investment, imo. After all, what if the NEXT apartment couldn't fit 100" of sofa? I don't actually think our building is the anomaly here.
