100 Greatest Cult Movies of All Time

I've seen 44 63 of the top 100 cult classics! Wow! Going through this list, I was struck by both the number of these I haven't seen but should, and the number of these I don't own, but should. After discussing this briefly with James, we wonder: Where's Wall Street? Where's Being John Malkovich?

19 Jul 04: Erin reminded me that I saw Six String Samurai in DC!

This is the worst "top 100" films list I've ever seen. Where did you get it? It's author must be under 25.

Oops, I just noticed the word "cult". Never mind.

I believe you've seen Silent Running, an excellent old science fiction flick with Bruce Dern and cute stubby little robots.

Here are the ones on the list that I recommend for you two.

Waiting for Guffman - If you liked Best in Show and A Mighty Wind, this is really the movie (along with Spinal Tap) that started it all.

Withnail and I, Hedwig and the Angry Inch - I cannot believe you haven't seen these, Bethlet. You'll love 'em.

RollerBall (1975) - You'll love it.

Raising Arizona - The only good Nick Cage movie. Also the only good Holly Hunter movie excapt for Crash.

Blue Velvet, Boxing Helena - watch these two as a double feature, and you will lose all hope for the civilized world.

Apocalypse Now - There's a gazillion different versions of this. Be sure to get the directors cut. This is one of my top 10 favorite movies.

Blue Brothers - and you call yourself a Chicagoan!! :)

Resevoir Dogs - Very violent...very stylish.

OK...here is my list of movies on this list that are not worth watching. Just bad (as opposed to so bad, it's good):

Yellow Submarine
The Toxic Avenger
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Dark Star
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
Repo Man

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll rent Resevoir Dogs today, as James has seen it and doesn't want to see it again.

As for Silent Running, I don't remember seeing a flick with Bruce Dern and cute, stubby little robots, but after a description like that, I'm looking forward to it. :) If I saw it, I've forgotten it.
